The Alabama Chanin Striped Scarf DIY Kit is an awesome way to put all your stitches to use: like a 'sampler' that you can wear. This is our longest scarf at 180cm, and it has variegated stripes hand screen printed at each end that you will embellish. Included is the Embroidery Kit with all the threads and beads you will need.
In this kit you will embroider each end of the scarf using the button craft thread, embroidery floss and beads and sequins from the Embroidery Kit. After finishing your stitches and embellishment you will then cut away strips between the rows to reveal the contrasting fabric underneath.
The DIY Kit comes ready-to-sew, with the screen printed top fabric, the bottom fabric (for each end) and includes the Alabama Chanin Embroidery Kit.
This DIY kit comes in two colour ways:
Note that the bottom layer does not extend the full length of the scarf - it is comprised of two pieces that are positioned under each end of the top layer.
The kit includes so many things!
Skill level: Suitable for beginners. All of the Alabama Chanin Books demonstrate the stitches you will need and while you can still google and research the individual stitches we highly recommend using one of the books as a resource (plus they come with patterns and ideas for loads of other projects).
Take your time to enjoy creating this heirloom quality scarf. This project lets you showcase all of your skills and enjoy the calming effect of 'slow sewing'.
Shipping: FREE Standard 2-7 Day Australia Post shipping on orders over $150 / $5 shipping on orders over $40 / $10 shipping for orders under $40. You will have more options (like express) at checkout.
